What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a form of manual medicine, which recognises the important link between the structure of the body and the way it functions. Osteopaths focus on how the skeleton, joints, muscles, nerves, circulation, connective tissue and internal organs function as a holistic unit. Osteopathic treatment is unique in that we not only focus on the problem area, but assess the whole body to ensure each patient is functioning at their optimum. Osteopathic treatment uses techniques such as joint mobilisation, massage, manipulation and stretching to help patients achieve normal pain-free movement.

We also offer indirect techniques aimed at decreasing tension in the connective tissues of the body. This type of treatment is ideal for children, the elderly and chronic pain patients. Osteopaths also take an interest in your diet and lifestyle and are trained in exercise rehabilitation, ensuring an all-round approach to your condition.

All Osteopaths at En Pointe Health Centre are highly trained professionals, having completed a five year university course, and are registered with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency). In addition, all are members of Osteopathy Australia, and are committed to on-going post-graduate education.
